Parking brake

Just saw the pictures of the ecoboost and GT automatic interior with the push button parking brake. Does anyone know if you get a manual transmission, without the performance package, do you get stuck with the push button parking brake to?

Good question. I think the answer is yes and no.

Someone please correct me if I've got this wrong, but I think you get the lever for the "manual" parking break, but the lever just serves as a glorified button for the electronic brake.

If you get the performance pack, you also get an electronic brake, but the drift mode adds some fancy programming allowing you to use that lever like a manual hand brake.
I just want the lever. Regardless if it has the drift brake function. Let’s face it I’m not gonna ever use that function anyway (don’t want to wreck my car for YouTube lol)

Hey @JohnWS, from my understanding the parking brake lever only comes with the Performance Package.

If you don't get the Performance Package you'll get the button.

The electronic drift brake present in the 2024 Ford Mustang is part of the Performance Electronic Parking Brake feature, which is available in both EcoBoost and V8-powered models equipped with the optional Performance Pack. While it utilizes a traditional-looking hand brake, this feature unlocks the Mustang’s drifting capabilities by emulating the hydraulic drift brake found in the RTR racing variant, yet provides three times the braking force of a conventional mechanical parking brake system.

@Cobra but isn't that just the drift brake function?

There image in the OP of this thread has a button but that's a design sketch and the photos below of the base interior all show a lever.
Weird that even the base trim auto has a lever, but the photo you shared (which looks like a higher spec - leather, joined dual screens) has the button.

From how that article @Cobra shared is worded it seems like the lever comes with that package. But I agree it is a bit confusing.
