The 2023+ S650 Mustang will come with a V8 engine, according to Ali Jammoul, Ford's vehicle program director of Icons and Ford Performance: "What we need to do, though, is make the V8 more environmentally friendly and you need to make sure it’s regulatory compliant. And that’s absolutely something we have worked on and will certainly have in the next-generation Mustang"

That's going to be interesting on what they mean by making it "more environmentally friendly" and "regulatory compliant". Either it's going to be a hybrid at some point or Ford is developing something to make their V8 more fuel efficient.
