Hi good people, Jim here. The wife is the real Mustang freak of the family, but of course I own one also. She drives an '18 GT Vert, and I have an '07 GT Coupe. She's already planning on ordering a '24, and I was glad to find this forum. Hopefully we can get some info on when the order banks open. Anyhoo, happy to be here.

Welcome to the forum @Wanted33.

Are you also planning to order an S650 GT coupe sometime soon?

Have you two decided what colors to order them in?
Since it will be the wife's car she has already said it will be Rapid Red. Those shades of red are her favorites. And, as per her orders it will also be a convertible. So, I'm sure it will look close to what she has now although she may change the interior color. For me, I'll stick with my little S197. Those are my favorites.

Same, though if someone gave me an S550 or S650 I wouldn’t kick it out of my garage 🤣

Hey @Wanted33 welcome to the forum! Have you and your wife had your GTs since they were new?
Her yes, me no. She is on her 3rd new GT owning a 2010 and 2013 prior. I had an '06 that I bought used, and like an idiot I sold it. I was missing that little car before it got out of the driveway. It took me nearly 3 years to find the right one for me, and when I did I was all over it. An old friend of mine runs a speciality vehicle sales business. He found this one owner '07 with just shy of 16K miles. I paid too much for it, but dang, everything else I was finding was well over 100K miles, some close to 200K, and of course all would need some kind of work. The car was just one of those rare finds that I couldn't pass up.

Wow that's one heck of a find by your friend! For a car in that condition I think a bit of a premium is worth it.

Good choice, Ford did after all parade it around quite a lot during the initial promo quite heavily along with a couple other color options, the rest didn't get as much love.

I agree sir. It was worth a little more. It's like I told the wife, it doesn't matter how much I drive it as it will always be a low mileage S197. It was quite nice not having to do all the stuff needed when you buy a high mileage unit. I just changed the fluids, and she was ready to ride.

A fantastic pair of Mustangs @Wanted33. Congrats to you and your wife and welcome! What do you and your wife think of the 7th gen Mustang's design compared to her 2018 GT?

Thank you sir. We both had the same reaction when we saw the first pics of the S650.....:eek:. But as usual, that wore off, and we are fine with the changes. Although I'm still a bit at odds with the lower section of the front grill being wider than the top. But, it will be the wife's car, and if she likes it, that's what matters. She's been with me through thick and thin for 46 years. So, I try to give her anything she wants as long as we don't go hungry afterwards. :)

Ford Authority was informed by Ford Mustang Chief Engineer Ed Krenz that tuning an S650 would be "much more difficult" and that the "full stack" of electric components, including the ECU, is encrypted and communicate with one another through a method of authentication.

Welcome to the forum. While it sucks to have that limitation, Ford might have select aftermarket brands it partners up with for tunes. Which S650 model are you planning to get?

Welcome to the forum @etochura! Yup he has said that, hopefully either someone can crack it or they made it easy to access for shops and tuners.

Which Mustang model are you interested in getting?
