As we get ready for the new Mustang, it's great to see Ford emphasize that they're going to continue with V8s for the foreseeable future.

With that being said, is there a chance that Ford is going to have a new version of the Coyote in the 7th gen Mustang or will it carry over from the 6th gen? That might be wishful thinking since Ford has shelved the Voodoo V8.

I would like to see 7th gen drop something exciting like a smaller block drop some weight amp up some horsepower see them baby’s fly down a track! Basically what I’m saying is weight reduction!!
I think that's the number 1 thing I'm seeing on Facebook and Twitter, hopefully Ford listens and is able to reduce some weight on the new car.

I completely agree @Tom tom but would be happy with anything that improves the power to weight ratio. Any guesses as to what it could realistically be? Along with other changes to make it into more of a sports car?
Well simply making the car a bit smaller would help reduce weight. Maybe on the high performance side they can experiment with carbon fibre but that would jack the price up substantially.

Yea, I'll say no to CF. That would make it crazy expensive.

And to @panther if you've driven a modern Stang with the 5.0, it is definitely a true sports car.

Camaros and Challengers still have that old school feel, but the Mustang drives incredibly well!
